   Originally a Cantonese custom, Dim Sum is inextricably linked to the Chinese tradition of "yum cha" or drinking tea. In fact, tea drinking is well-ingrained as a part of the Chinese culture and has catalyzed the evolution of Dim Sum as one of the commonly pursuit pleasures of life.

A Dim Sum meal is always casual and very enjoyable. The delicate scent and flavor of hot tea, together with the taste and delicious aroma of Dim Sum, serve to bridge the gap between people from all walks of life. Restaurants which serve Dim Sum are always popular meeting places for friends¡¦ get-together, engaging in intellectual discussions or merely enjoying life¡¦s simple pleasure. It is also common to see whole families with several generations seated at the same table, enjoying a Dim Sum meal together, getting up-to-date on family affairs. No matter how noisy and chaotic the restaurant is, you can relax in the moments and can be at peace with the world in a Dim Sum house.                                                                                                  

Enjoying Dim Sum has long been a favorite hobby of the older generations, but has also become a very enjoyable rendezvous for young people. Chinese people love going to the local tea house for an afternoon of tea and relaxing conversation with friends or families. Dim Sum plays an integral role in the operation of the Chinese tea houses, synonymous to the intriguing interaction of Chinese medicines with our mind and bodies. Therefore, the success of a Chinese tea house can always be gauged by the volume of business served during Dim Sum hours.
